We were here just over four years ago. June of 2020 was at the beginning of the height of THE pandemic. Our RV van was new to us since the end August and we wanted/needed to do some camping. Complying with our Governor’s plea to stay close to home during this time, we drew a 100 mile radius around our home and would explore those areas for camping and activities. It was a wonderful thing to do as we saw and visited places we had not been and, in some cases had not even known about. Like Elk Kamp!
Tom and Brian had purchased the camp that season and as luck would have it, right in the middle of Covid. Here we were in mid-June 2020. Once open, scroll down to “Lewis County is in Phase 3”.

Since that time, as of last year, Sisters on the Fly have discovered Elk Kamp and we are with them for this, their second event here. We chatted with Tom at registration, and though he may not have remembered us specifically (after such a long time), he did remember opening the camp during Covid outbreak and all the challenges that brought.. He looked us up and said our campsite for our three nights here is the same one we had in June, 2020.
Getting here early, we set up camp, relaxed a bit and took walks around the grounds.

A walk around the sites shows that there are trees for shade as well as for a little privacy for each camper.

Elk Kamp is just as wonderful as we remember it being, and a few additional amenities and touches are subtle enough to not take anything away from its initial charm.
That evening we had campfire time (propane fire) at our leader Cindy’s site. We did introductions and played a little ice breaker game of questions on cards we were given. Mine was — Fly or be invisible? My choice was Fly ;’-)
In the morning our sister Sara, with some help from Ally, fixed a full breakfast for all 26 of us! She says she loves doing it. Of course we love her doing it 😊.
The Pancake line was short as Sara had many cakes on the griddle.

Then we all took our seats and enjoyed her work. Thank you so much Sara, it was delicious and a delight.

Cindy’s dog, Mister, was among the four legged visitors. Animals are not allowed at meals unless “caged”.
MISTER

Sara had her Clark Kent in the cage with Mister and they got along famously.

Joy was a joy in her own spacious enclosure with lots of room (two rooms actually) to roam.

So ends our full first day and early next morning. SOTF request that no one post blogs or social media, other than on their site, until the event has ended. This for safety sake. So I will continue with each day and post all later. This will be it for this page.
