ENDING 2024 — DECEMBER (Part 1)

December started out with some rather nice weather days of sun, blue sky and warmish temps in the high 40s/low 50s (even). Even those first days had Christmas in the wings.

My friend Kathy and I were able to get in a rather nice ride on the Centennial Trail.

Susan and I had our final SOTF event. A gift exchange and lunch in Burlington at Coconut Kenny’s (neither of us had ever been here so it was a nice change). A nice, simple theme of napkins (everybody can us napkins) as the wrapped gifts with a fun game to make the gifting.

Immediately from the gift event, Susan and I followed Nese to her little slice of heaven, and her “Happy Place” in Marymount on the Cascade River.

Her little trailer and outbuilding are tucked into a slot of the forest directly on the rapid Cascade river.

We took a great walk around the area. Found this sun dappled moss laden tree.

A bit of “yard art” wearing a cap over its mossy neck.

And a bear keeping close eye on us.

Unexpectedly, at least for Susan and me, we came upon a little playground. so we all played.

Farther along, our walk took us across bridge, past a waterfall, to a little library (Susan can never pass up one of those) with the magic stones.

On the way back to HP (Happy Place), what should I (and only I) spy!

Plus a little gnome hiding under the decomposing tree trunk.

On our second day Nese took us for a drive for some more beautiful sightseeing. The time of day and sunlight were perfect for these snow covered mountains.

So much so that we needed a selfie. I think a look a little sour here, but was counting the seconds on the self timer on the camera.

More water of course, and no self control to stop taking photos!~!

Back at HP we took some (brrr) time to enjoy Nese’s upper deck and fire.

Soon it was day’s end, and Nese fixed us a fine dinner.

Next morning was departure day. After packing up and assisting Nese with some packing up chores we were ready to pull out and head home.

OH NO!! Nese was locked out of her car! Motor was running to heat it up and defrost the windshield, keys in the ignition, extra keys in the jacket pocket that was inside the car!!

We tried several tactics to get a window or door open and finally, with creativity, and determination, and tools, Nese succeeded.

Our new, highly qualified car-jacker!

We had a wonderful time Nese, thanks for the invitation to enjoy your Happy Place.❤️
