I knew I would have to pay back for those glorious days of January. Second half of that month had those dry, sunny, blue sky days that are so inviting for biking. I worked at riding as often as I could because I knew!

I didn’t know however, that it would come so soon – like the very first day of the month 🤨.
From our front door.

The snow and cold does not mean the end to my winter riding, but has caused rescheduling of some plans, and gives pause to longer rides. I will adapt, but not give up, my rides.
The snow got worse over the next few days…

Though the snow does bring some beauty to the normally drab winter areas, and periods were light with minimal to no accumulation, the temps low – 23 early morning, not getting up to at least 35 until noon, one or two o’clock. That meant icy roads for the optimal bike riding hours! I would have to suffer and choose no bike riding for too many days, if I wanted to live for better times.

I will post this brief account not because the next post will be long as I recapture our SOTF camping event!
You will see that there was no riding at that event, and when we go home there was a full day of waiting for a window for a ride. And FINALLY, after 18 days of not riding, I was back on the saddle. Just a short one to the bank and around, and still … there were a few remnants of the snow.

Note the rain puddle on the walkway. I first rode through some light mist which become heavy mist which became actual rain. However, it was not terribly cold and by halfway through the ride it dried up again. YAY FOR A RIDE!!!
