MOONBEAMS AND FIREFLIES PART 2

Another morning and another homemade goodie for breakfast.

Two kinds of biscotti.

On the way to biscotti there were a few things to take my attention. Camp rules appear doable ;’-).

Trailer has signs of occupation…

Where are we again?

Maybe these will be handy close by…

Ready made and waiting…

Anna makes her breakfast the old campers way (non microwave!!).

Sizzlin’ bacon — mmmm mmmmm good!

The air quality had taken a dive because of the Wildcat wildfire that is not far enough away from us. So it was potentially probably that I would not get in a ride today, but I would wait it out to see if it improved. Like a firefighter, I remained in my cycling clothes just in case I needed to get out quick in upcoming good air.

In the mean time — the indoor activity of Hat Burning would be of interest. Neither Susan nor I had brought a hat to burn; neither of us thinking we wear hats well (esp Susan); neither of us being terribly artistic: and one of us having about zero patience, I opted to purchase an already burned hat and Susan elected to have someone else burn a hat she bought.

My hat is the original by Liz, who burned this one last year.

Susan would have the perfect burned pattern and here it is n the initial process… Jackie burned the fish. Now it would go on to Liz for some fill background.

Others got beginning instructions.

Tina was nervous to perform a burn on a perfectly good cap, sure she would ruin it! Here, she chooses just the right pattern and begins the process…

Theresa works steadily on her creation.

Liz finishes up her additions to Susan’s great hat.

Susan and I model our hats.

Then it’s off to enjoy more baked/fried goodies that Monica is providing us here at her camp.

The process…

The finished product is quite scrumptious…

After funnel cakes I decided the air was good enough for a bike ride. I rode the delightful Nile Road again, just because. When I joined the other end at Hwy 410 I took that a ways south mainly as a test. I am hatching a plan to ride from here back to Yakima, so I wanted to see what riding along 410 might be like. It was quite fine actually with only one or two cars passing periodically and 95% of those moved totally into the other lane even when I had a shoulder to ride on! So now I will look a bit more at my hatching plan. A couple of women have warned me that perhaps the traffic is light on 410 due to the fire that an obstacle to crossing over the pass. Gotta be aware of that for next year. Yes, we will return for this event next year, and already there are two others who will bring their bike 😊😊

Back on Nile road for the return I did notice a couple of things I did not post earlier.

Irrigation always creates a nice pattern of spraying water.

This little hut provides the perfect structure for some wild growth.

back at camp now and I don’t think there is much on the agenda for the evening, so will end this day’s post and look into that route to Yakima ;’-).
