Departing our abode du nuit in Kingman, AZ —- Ramblin’ Rose is several steps up from Super 8, but just.

We seem to be in a town that is part of RTE 66 fame. Had a fine breakfast at the diner.

Our refueling stop in Wickenburg brought one of those “set up” photos, and I could not help myself but to include it here ;’-).

This would be our final long travel day for this arm of our trip, and it was the worst we have had. Of course now we were nearing Tucson so there was more traffic, and as we got closer, there was lots more traffic. Most of the day’s driving was on Interstate highway or interstate-like highways with transitioning from one number to the next seamlessly and “efficiently” via an uninterrupted connector highway! So — no scenery at all. Then again there was simply no scenery in that part of Arizona no matter what road one would be on. Arriving in Tucson had at least some green in the landscape. Some.
Being a little early for our hotel check-in, we drove the short distance to scout Catalina State Park where we will stay a couple of nights when we return here from Patagonia Lake at the end of the week.

We had a comfortable night’s stay at Holiday Inn & Suites, a very nice motel, but not reaching the best we had at Copper Queen in Ely, NV. One more decadent night before ‘camping’ actually begins. We don’t normally stay in motels so much, but with the long 430 ish mile days, it was the best choice we could have made.
Our room at Holiday Inn even had a little office nook where I could comfortably do my blogging.

We say goodbye the Holiday Inn and make our way to Patagonia Lake State Park.

Leaving our motel, we made a detour to check out the KOA where we will come back to for our final week in Arizona. We have signed ourselves up to lead a bike ride at that Pleaure Way camping event, and wanted to see how that might work!!! More about that later..
Passing by the entrance road to Patagonia Lake State Park, we continued into town to look around, do a little food shopping at the market, and to get Susan’s pizza 🙄.
This photo is not really out of focus — the sign is old and deteriorating, but it does show that we have arrived in Patagonia.

Walking along the short street of this rather cute little town, we made a few stops to browse the shops.

Needless to say, Susan had scoped out google to find a pizza place. Glad she did as that was great for dinner once we got to the campground.

The town has Butterfly Garden.

After picking up the pizza we drove just a little farther on a back road to see the Center for Hummingbirds. It was too hot to even think of getting out for a walk around, but how cool for this little town to have a butterfly garden and a Center for hummingbirds!
Here we are now at Patagonia Lake, set up our rig, walked around ever so little, and ate our pizza dinner.

We are in the spot where there is no WiFi and no Cell phone signal. I can write all this and get it ready for posting when we are at a place that has WiFi and send it then. This will end this post now — up to and including our arrival at Lake Patagonia State Park. I will begin a new page when there are things ‘blog worthy’.
have you been in Tucson before? The Desert Museun is pretty “cool”.

Yep, been to that museum and liked it. It was about the only redeeming feature we felt was there!! Found a spot of WiFi here at the park and am doing just a bit of catch up posting.
