LAVENDER RIDE 2025

Tour de Lavender is an annual bike ride around and through many of the lavender fields in Sequim WA. Susan and I did the ride for the first time last year with our friends Shelly & Lizette. The four of us decided to do it again this year.

Last year we camped at Sequim State Park which is close to but a drive away from the ride start. Susan did her usual sleuthing on the ‘net and found us a place to camp (Gilgal RV Oasis) that is a mere one mile bike ride to the start. A small piece of real estate for sure, but worth it as we would not be staying at camp for much of the time. The convenience of biking a short distance to start the ride was a real plus.

The route is well marked, plus we had the RWGPS map on our phones. We could not get lost if we tried ;’-).

The roadside has a few interesting buildings for me to stop for.

An old moss covered bench caught my eye (of course).

Sequim has local history Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, one of three S’Klallam bands who have lived on the Olympic Peninsula for thousands of years. The S’Klallam people are a Coast Salish people whose name means “The Strong People”.

As we rolled along by the bay we found some indications of them.

We also found this very good advice for tsunami avoidance…

The shoreline and wind can take its toll on trees and forestry.

Several lavender farms participate for this tour, and we got to stop for snacks, beverages, lavender ice cream, and scenes of lavender related everything.

Some farms set up quite the displays.

There was a lone chicken trying to get in on the action. Hard to see in this arrangement but is the dark creature with yellow legs back there.

The goat was friendly and wanted out of its fence.

We got to see the lavender drying barm which I find most interesting

Finishing up our route, we were treated to a sighting of these beauties.

This annual tour is held on the first Saturday in August (yes, I am quite late in posting about it) and we will most likely participate again next year. We definitely enjoyed it, and we are treated to pizza at the end of the ride.
