JULY & AUGUST RAMBLES NEAR HOME

I have been terribly remiss in blogging lately and now —- I don’t know how to catch up! You may recall from my last post that I had taken a fall and needed healing time for inflammation of cartilage in the ribs at my chest. That took away a good week of activity.

So to start, I think I will simply do a photo drop. I don’t like the term “photo dump”. I sort, edit, cull and choose photos to post, and they are not photos for the ‘dump’! So here I will drop photos from rides near home with friends or solo.

I will start with this one which seems to be rushing my summer away! This is at the same house that had the giant creatures of Halloween posted in July last year as well! Slow down, summer goes by quickly enough on its own.

On a different route near home I occasionally see this horse which seems so out of place as this is a neighborhood that I am sure is not zoned for horse keeping. Plus, this is a very small piece of land for a pasture.

Cute as heck and very friendly and there is a small (too small I would say) structure for getting out of the weather. This horse is not always there, but the horse trailer is.

Farther on I often have stopped at different seasons to view and take a photo of the pond that on this day is covered by algae it appears. It’s a very nice and peaceful setting in someone’s back yard.

I passed by this chicken, and then Mara’s stump for July.

July was going by too fast and August was right on my heels. The ivy covered wall, with its change of color, gave evidence that Autumn was real close!

I had a day where I had plenty of time so decided to explore an area I have not ridden before. Gave me some different views around Everett.

This will seem quite out of context, but I must share. Susan and I had been invited to our neighbor friend Wendy’s 70th birthday party with the theme of the 70s. Susan found just the right outfit for us on Amazon. I model that in our mirror.

To finish off the outfit we found just the right skirts at a discount store and we were all set.

The good thing about rounding up these outfits was that we had a 70s themed SOTF coming up that would call for just such wear. We were ready!

Ella is a dog belonging to Wendy’s daughter who would be traveling with her family for a couple of weeks, and Wendy would be dog sitting. Susan and I know Ella very well, she likes us a lot. We have taken her on nearby ‘adventures’ and she remembers ;’-). We had some time with her during her stay with Wendy.

Ella is not keen on Dog Parks, but she humored us a few times. The trip itself was a bust though.

She did enjoy our time and walks at Mukilteo beach. The dock was not a favorite and she really wanted Susan to get her to dry land!

Interruption here with another mural I spotted on one of my rides. I don’t get the meaning but it did catch my eye.

One more activity for this month near home was a ride with Kathy around Everett. We rode to and on the Milltown Trail .

The trail is more of a sidewalk and some road near the waterfront. The tide was very low on this day.

We picked up part of the trail that took us to Pigeon Creek at a dead end for more views of the sound and some gulls on the shore.

I had not heard of “ghost shrimp” before and found this an interesting piece of learning.

Exiting the marina area to continue on to finish our loop route, one more photo of Kathy — the ‘catch of the day’…

I will now call this good for rambles near home and feel good about finishing step one of my backlog of posts. ;’-).
