Here comes our other weather – our regular weather π€¨.
So much for all those consecutive days in January of sun and bright blue sky. I did get out for a ride on this first gray day before we would be driving to camp at Kanaskat State Park. My ride had to be a bit short so to help with packing up everything.
I took this photo to show how the blue sky has changed to light gray, and the frostless road. And too, the light traffic that is usual on this nearby stretch. This stretch may look familiar as I have taken photos during the spring with the trees blooming, and in the fall with the colorful leaves of autumn

I started my ride today an hour earlier than I have been – because of the getting ready for camping thing – but I believe it was the dampness that made if feel colder than it had been during the sunny dry days.
These butterflies on a fence added some nice color to the gray day.

I passed by several homes that still had remnants of the Christmas Holiday β lighted deer in the yard, wreath on the door, lights and ornaments on outdoor trees. But there was one house that is ready for our next βholidayβ celebration.

And all of a sudden, my ride was done. Soon we would be driving to the campground.
This trip is one planned around a one day SOTF event for brunch at Black Diamond Bakery. We extended the one day to (potentially) four days with a camp out at the nearby Kanaskat State Park. Coordinating with our friend Nese, she and her husband Charlie met us there for our own βeventβ.
Some may remember our friend, she has that Italian vineyard decorated trailer, and she dresses for any occasion. Because of a lack of a photo in my arsenal, I have taken one of hers from her site. I know that is ok with her.

Some SOTF events do welome a sister and her mister but not all. This camp out is not a SOTF event so Charlie is welcome to join us.
Their Big rig.

Our hosts.

After some evening time around the fire that Charlie had built, we had dinner together in their big motor home (Charlie feels too cramped in Neseβs smaller one) and it was such a true delight to meet and share time with Charlie. He is really a very nice guy and quite sociable – just like Nese. Such a treat to meet him.
So, our plan at the outset of planning this trip was to bring our bikes and do some riding β to the City Hall motorcycle bar on the first morning (Friday), and to our luncheon on Saturday.
They brought their bikes.

We brought our bikes.

And then there was weather. It rained through much of the first night, and then for most of the day. There would be no bike ride to the City Hall Saloon for breakfast in the morning. Bikes would stay where they are. Nese and Charlie had invited us to brunch which is where we sat out some of the consistent and rather hard rain. We shared time together eating and playing a few games.

So in addition to having us over for dinner the first night (we at least contributed a hearty salad), and for brunch the next day, they invited us over for a steak dinner on the second night! It is priceless to have friends like this!
Now there is snow in the forecast for tonight and a good part of tomorrow. There would be no bike ride to brunch at Black Diamond π.
True to the forecast β¦ we had snow in the night and a little this morning.

We packed up for an early departure. There would be no bike ride to the luncheon at Black Diamond Bakery today.

We all decided to leave camp a day earlier than planned rather than take the chance of being snowed in! After a morning of packing up we drove to the bakery and had a fine time with a table full of Sisters.

So many choices! Susan purchased several treats to take home, we had a scrumptious meal with a dozen sisters around the round table, talking, laughing and enjoying each others company. Finally we pulled ourselves away for the drive home. Though we did drive through a few areas of snow, it was soon dry and easy driving home. Seems there is more snow on the way for the week, but that too could change. It could be dry and sunny, or there could be a snow storm. We wonβt know until it happens ;β-). I will be updating in a later post.
Happy Winter π.
