The Bang will come in a minute.
First a bit of family. We had several wonderful gatherings over the Christmas holiday and here we all are at our house a few days before Christmas Eve.
The family (minus Laurent who was at home doing chores) plus long time family friends who are more like family, John and Elaine with their family Wendy and Greg and children.

All the children lined up on the stairs.

Kathmandu found some snuggle time with Lucy.

More family time happened at Jenny’s for Christmas Eve gift opening and dinner. Very full and happy times for all of us.
The following week had more rain days than not, and I had few rides near home. On New Year’s Eve though, we were surprised with some rather decent weather which I took advantage of to do one of my longer local rides.
See sun and shadows on the bike route.

As I neared home I thought maybe I might get a glimpse of the Olympic mountains by taking a loop through our airport. And I was right!

It was a very lovely ride and just what I needed after several days of wishing for a ride!
Then it happened. At about 3 miles from home my cell phone rang with a call from Susan. She was telling me that she was sure she was ok, but would walk up to the drop in urgent care clinic to ‘just be checked out’.
Here is the bang that ended 2024

On a local errand ride, Susan got rear ended that resulted in plenty of damage to the Honda. Susan was not at fault, a witness stopped and gave her his phone number, she notified insurance company and filled out a police report with police who came to the scene.
The vehicle that ran into her had a mighty little dent in her license plate. 🙄

Susan checked out fine with X-rays showing nothing broken, and received some pain meds for her sore neck and back. All is well but we now await word from insurance companies about what our next steps are.
With her neck pain, Susan opted to not ride on our annual FROSTY outing. All week the forecast had been indicating rain for this day (New Year’s Day), but as our luck and good karma held strong, we had a good day to ride. Look at all the smiles.

Here is to a good 2025. My best to each and all of you for a most peaceful year filled with love and good health.
