ONE MORE SOTF AT LAKE EASTON WA

I have not posted in the past few days so thought I should do at least a little check in.

After leaving Sandpoint we headed to Spokane for our somewhat annual visit with our friends Vicki & Ray. In the past we had stopped at their place in Missoula MT for a couple of nights on our way to somewhere. They recently, as in a couple of months ago, moved to Spokane to be near their daughter and family. This trip we would spend our couple of nights here in their new home.

They took us on a driving tour around some of Spokane. In addition to seeing the hospital where Ray was born, and the place where Vicki and Ray were married (Tour de Willms,) we also had a visit to the beautiful flower garden.

The garden is like a mini-Butchart Gardens of Vancouver Canada. A hidden treasure that neither Susan nor I had seen.

There is a conservatory next to the gardens that showcases many other plants, some familiar, some not so much.

Two different colorful coleus plants

Lots of desert cacti. I have not heard of Asparagus fern, and found that quite interesting.

Dinner at South Hill Grill was a delight; breakfast ala V&R was special; playing with George the cat was fun; and our our bittersweet goodbyes seemed to come so quickly. We so enjoy time with them, and we all feel that it is more like a family visit than friends visit. We care a lot for them. Until next time β€” thanks to our friends for all the comforts, and the sharing of time and stories.

Neither Susan nor I are flower or plant people, so we surely do not know what we are looking at if there is no identification sign in front of it. But now, Susan, of course, has an app. And she looked up just about every plant we saw. Do we remember most of them?

In a few hours we arrived at Lake Easton and got snuggled into our camp site for the next several days. We arrived two days before the SOTF outing actually started, so we met just a couple of other early arrivals, took a short bike ride and relaxed at camp.

We will have a few β€˜sister’ activities this afternoon and evening and enjoy another few days here. We have been to Lake Easton several times and there is little I feel I have to write about so whatever it is will no doubt be brief ;’). We are still having a great time. 😊
