MOONBEAMS 2024

Swiftwater Campground has 23 campsites and we “Sisters” have filled it up. Our Hostess, Deb, has arranged for SOTF to be the only campers here for this weekend’s outing at White Bird, Idaho. The owner of the campground is Pam, a fellow sister and friend of Deb.

These rules we can live with.

Our event is named “Moonbeams Over the Salmon River” and our leader extraordinaire is Deb. She gathers us, guides us to activities and places of interest, and arranges those things for us. She is full of energy and good will for all. We love her.

Susan and I attended this outing last year, which is when we found the bike ride “For The Hill of It”, and knew we would want to attend again this year.

Whenever I attend any sort of outing (SOTF, Road Scholar in the past, or any event with a group) I tell everyone that I keep a blog and take random photos which may include some of them. I tell them that if they do not want to have their photo appear in my blog to please let me know and I will be sure to honor that and not include them.

I have had only a very few who say they don’t want to be on my blog, but I have never had any raise their hand emphatically saying they DO want to be on my blog. Twilene, Brandi (?) and Susan A all did just that. I had to laugh at them and take a photo of them immediately so not to forget to include them. I posted this on our facebook page just to say that I WILL also include them on my blog. They couldn’t quite decide which pose they wanted, so I took three.

Then Sylvia and Melissa, knowing they did not want to be left out, raised their hands as well.

What a group!

When I posted to my old blogspot all about this event last year, none of my photos came up on the post. It is what led me to change my blog to WordPress. I will now be taking many of the same photos, because I don’t have them from last year, and it is the same area so no new photos will be available. ;’).

This mid-morning we took Rose, as a bike rider who has not ridden much lately, on a short bike ride to Hammer Creek Recreation Park. This is the ride start for Saturday.

This plaque explains the sculpture…

Rose enjoys the ride with us and says it is just the right ride for her.

Heading back to camp, we ride beside the rapidly moving Salmon River.

Stopping on the bridge we get a photo of the campground from the other side of the bridge. Our campground is there in the background.

Checking back in camp, making sure we were not missing anything (me and my FOMS – Fear Of Missing Something disorder), we found some sisters doing what sisters do.

Chatting and socializing for Rose (#2), Laurie, Lee, Twilene, Eileen, and Brandi…

And crafting for AndI and Susan A…

Now for a bit of a bike ride into White Bird to meet up with Sylvia and Melissa for lunch.

When we were here last year they were just working on this place which was not open at that time. They assured us then that they would have ice cream, lunch and goodies in addition to the wine and beer.

The four of us sat out on their deck and enjoyed our lunch before heading back to camp.

Across the road from lunch is this picturesque church building.

Susan and I rode on just a bit more before actually returning to camp and found sisters everywhere doing things again.

Crafting and games…

Seeing Susan A’s bead work, I said it looks like this takes a lot of patience.

She replied “well this is from last year and is exactly what I got done then”. So yes, I guess it does take patience.

AND THEN – we got the news — guilty on all 34 counts!

Will end this post at that and begin more adventuring tomorrow.

    1. I know that for some reason you are having problems replying on my blog. We are indeed having a good trip for at least three weeks! In Spokane for a few days before heading home.
