RIDING IN LAVENDAR (mostly a photo journal)

It’s an annual ride in Sequim and this was our first time to do it. Shelly and Lizette joined us at Sequim Bay State Park to camp for two nights. This put us fairly close to the ride start and an easy drive to and from the Boys and Girls club to check in for the ride.

A friendly rider, and her dog, took our photo at the start. Look at that blue sky.

Wanting to miss the heat of the day (gets hot over there in Sequim), we got an early start at 8:30, just a bit past the official start time of 8:00. Well, some of us were quite cold for the entire morning and then chilly for the remainder of the ride. Warmed up when we were done riding!

There were 1000 riders this year which beat last years numbers by abut 40.

It was such a delightful ride with stops at 6 or more (lost count) Lavendar farms. The stops served us well on the 35 mile route as our legs and other body parts reveled in resting!

A plethora of snacks greeted us at each farm, water and Gatorade slaked our thirst, each farm had a gift shop to browse through, and in Lizette’s case, make purchases of a variety of things Lavendar

The farms each had their fields of Lavendar.

We chose to do the 35 mile “Fun Ride” rather than the 62 mile Metric Century, and by the end of the ride we were very glad we were smart enough to make that choice ;’-).

The route took us on many back roads of Sequim with light traffic and only a few minor hills to climb.

We skirted the shoreline and rode through a small part of the reservation.

And …. More Lavendar farms…

Susan was #2 (of the 1000 riders) because she had an “in” with the registrar. She and Leilani went to high school together.

Walking around the grounds of the various farms gave relief to our saddle parts ;’-)

It was interesting to see the drying of the Lavendar as it hung inside the barn.

Nearing the finish of our route, we were getting tired, but no so tired we couldn’t be silly on the “Edith Chair” 😀.

At the end of our ride we pulled right up to tables filled with pizza 😳. None of us got a photo of the pizza feed, but we all ate some as our dinner fare ;’-). This was such a great ride that I was so happy to not have to miss due to my rib experience! A ride I would like to do again next year. Now, if only I can convince Susan to do it again 🤨😉.

    1. The lavendar farms in several places nearby are wonderful and they do remind me a bit of Provence! But yes – they are right here ;’-). It was such a good weather day too ;’-).
