Thompson Falls MT was our stay for last night and we had ‘almost’ a cabin with its own entry! Our spacious room (we were upgraded because the proprietor apparently liked us) was at the far end of a line of rooms and we could park on the grass next to our entrance. Falls Motel was in walking distance to Minnie’s cafe, suggested to us by the receptionist at the motel. It felt good to get out on an early morning walk to breakfast.

We were sure to turn off our motors before starting our breakfast.

On our return walk we passed the ‘community piano’ and a nice people watching sofa. We seem to find the small town jails no matter where we go.

We walked along the river with our breakfast leftovers and finished at the motel where we packed up and checked out.

A true highlight for me came at midmorning as we were driving along route 200 to Sandpoint. I subscribe to ‘Cycle Blaze’ which is a site for bike tourers to journal about their tours. I am and avid reader of many tours, call it virtual touring for me! Recently I have been following a tour that Sandy is doing and have been falling behind in reading until this morning. Sandy lives on Lummi Island, not far from Bellingham WA, and is biking across the country. Sandy’s husband Peter, and their dog Henry, drive the route with their RV as a support for her. This morning I read that they had camped in Thompson Falls State Park last night and Sandy would be on our route somewhere. I kept my eyes peeled during our drive, not positive she would be on our actual route, and…
We found her!

Susan and I pulled over off the road and flagged Sandy down for a chat and to see if she needed anything. Sandy’s destination for the day was the town of Hope, ID – just before Sandpoint. A hefty amount of miles for her today. Since we took her photo, she took ours.

Arriving at the Sandpoint Fairgrounds and campground around 11:30, we were the first ‘sisters’ to get to camp. We got set up, did a run into town for some supplies and returned to watch others arrive and get ready for our fun time at yet another SOTF event ;’-).
Time flew by and now we gather for first meet up with introductions, review of activities for the next days of ‘Lazy Days in Sandpoint’ , then dinner together (BYO) at the picnic shelter.
You really have seen a lot of the country on this trip. Nice pics. Go ladies!

It is truly amazing all there is to see in this country! Not all can I get a photo of and must simply enjoy the views while I am there. And we are doing only a piece of it all. There is so much that I will not even get to experience around our country, but then again, I have done, seen and experienced a lot of it.
