The weather held out for us and then there were seven. Maridee arrived just in time to join us at the ride start. A cool day with diffused sun in a gray sky made a very comfortable riding day. I have outlined, a bit poorly, in red what was our approximate route.

Let me not get too ahead of myself. About a mile from the start we did have to stop at the coffee bar and the bakery. Some of us needed breakfast, or lunch, or a wake-up beverage. We parked our bikes and made our purchases of choice before heading out for real, lunches and snacks securely packed in panniers.

When on a group ride, I am always reluctant to stop for photos, so I missed quite a few. At our snack/lunch break I found that everyone had been waiting for me to stop for photos, and some wanted photos of their own but did not stop because I did not stop!!! Never again with this particular group of Rainbow Riders shall I let that happen!
In the above map at the W on the upper right is where Spencer Spit State Park is, and was our break stop. Taking the loop through the park after our break we came upon a few picture worthy things.

Susan paddles on dry land…

Once again we find a display of junk that pollutes our oceans and endangers sea life – particularly plastic items…hopefully you can enlarge and read about it.

We all noticed and liked the Rainbow ladder at the colorful little house.

Chair on a rock.

A fish for Susan…

Many artists make Lopez their home, and there are many random sculptures about.

Riding on the traffic quiet roads of the island.

We got back to town and Susan needed to make two stops: one at the … wait for it… pizza truck; and one at the pharmacy. The sign for bike parking shows some of the whimsy of Lopez Island.

We each and all had a good day’s ride, and that’s a good thing as this morning brings thunder, lightning and rain 🙁. This day is not looking good for riding but ‘you never know’, so I will stay prepared for an impromptu.
Susan and I go home tomorrow morning, riding our bikes to the ferry. Others will be staying at least one more day. In spite of less than perfect weather, we have enjoyed the time on the island with our friends.
Nice pics Nancy!

Not this time, it we all have hiked out to Shark Reef several times in the past. Not a sunny day on this day, plus time constraints for the ride. Will look at map for Watmough Bay, but I have been to the islands many many times and will be surprised if I missed this one.

Watmough is at the opposite end of the island from the ferry dock. I’ll send pics. 🥹.
