Oh my! We did so much in just two and a half days!!!! And I have so many photos and activities to post that I will have to do it in sections! I don’t know yet how many sections (turns out there will be 3), that will be, but will start with this one.
It is Smokey’s 80th birthday and our leader, Annie is Smokey’s biggest fan (that we know). So naturally she planned this Northwest event (there are many happening around the country) for us near Coeur D’Alene Idaho.

Here’s Annie…

Annie, as Head Camp Director, had a few helpers as camp counselors and deputy directors. Her we have Michele, Dina, and Annie with the birthday boy.

Our camp staff had lots of decorations set out for us. These are only a few of them, and I don’t know how they get them all in their rigs and set up so well.
Annie’s trailer of course, honors our Smokey.

A major distraction and pests were the many yellow jackets/wasps we were totally bomb barded with. This trap gives an idea of the amount of these pests have been “trapped”.

Part of the table decorations included half lemons punctuated with cloves as a proven deterrent of the wasps. In addition someone handed out cotton balls peppered with pepperent oil which also worked for me to help them at bay.

Soon was crafts time;-). Neither Susan nor I are really crafty people, but Sisters make it if fun even for us to enjoy crafts! First craft activity today was to ale a book. We used cut up magazines, stickers, and drawings and finished off our books with blinking!
It took good concentration that complete a good book.

Once completed, after that concentrating, we passed our books around like high school yearbooks to be signed each others new books.

Camp counselor Vi gave us a thorough and full fire safety talk and information about fire safety.
She had a bag full of tricks and safety stuff in her bag and up her sleeves about how to start and how to totally douse a fire.

Another of our Camp Director. Michele. was ready at the side lines for another fun craft. We made and filled a small tin of fire starters, and a bucket to decorate for us as a pail of water to keep nearby when starting a camp fire.

Susan happily displays her bucket, much like mine…

We check in with our leaders and take off to get ready for dinner. For this event, breakfast and dinner were provided each day. Sure does make camping a lot easier ;’-)

We all took our Smokey Bear Fire Safety Plege before cleaning up for dinner of stuffed baked potatoes with many things to stuff into the taters.

This will do for Section 1 — more to come.
That looked like a fun time for everyone.
