TAKING MY NEW BOTTLE FOR A RIDE…AND AN OBSERVATION

Though the observation is not about my new water bottle, I must say that I liked it so much that I drank it dry on this cool and cloudy ride. Good thing I brought along that extra light titanium bottle as a back up. ;’-).

My observation is about bike icons in bike lanes. On a route I do and have done many (many) times I noticed something that looked or seemed “off”.

How and why I have never really noticed this “different” rendering of a bicycle, I don’t know, but it popped right out at me on this ride. That new bottle must have cleared my head and vision.

I took this next photo as a comparison of how the icons are so different now.

This is what I see all the time. A rider with no bicycle frame.

Then I noticed another different thing. Just a little past where I took this photo is a “sharrow” lane and this bicycle has no rider. I had not noticed these differences before.

I prefer the first photo as it seems like more of a throw back to days gone by. It looks more like a bicycle, and has more “character”.

That about wrapped up my ride and I felt strong and energetic today. One of those days when you feel you can continue riding and riding with no determined end ;’-).

(Two blog posts in one day? That’s a record.)

  1. Fun to have a new piece of equipment that you like so much and is so practical! I don’t have a good place for my bottle, either. I have mine strapped on to the back luggage rack and I have to get off my bike to get it. Not that practical.

    1. Thanks Suzanne. When we have a little more time (we are preparing to leave shortly for a camping outing), I will have Susan look up and send me the site where she ordered ours from. It really works well, and you might find it good too. Will get that info to you soon.
